You do not have to accept the insurance number
When an insurer totals a vehicle, you generally have two choices: let them take it for their settlement figure, or retain the salvage and keep the car. Retaining it means the insurer deducts a salvage value from your payout and you are left owning a damaged vehicle that has to go somewhere. That deduction is frequently lower than what the car is actually worth to a buyer who wants it.
This is worth doing the arithmetic on. Ask your adjuster what the salvage deduction would be, then get a real offer from us for the same vehicle. If our number is higher than their deduction, retaining and selling puts more money in your pocket. If it is not, take their settlement — we will say so.

Questions people actually ask
Can I sell a car that my insurance already totaled?
Yes, provided you retained the salvage rather than signing the vehicle over to the insurer. If the insurer has already taken possession and title, it is theirs to sell. If you kept it — which is your right in Texas — you can sell it to us. Check your settlement paperwork or ask your adjuster if you are unsure which happened.
Do you buy cars with a salvage or rebuilt title?
Yes. Salvage and rebuilt titles are ordinary for us and they do not disqualify a vehicle. Say so when you call — the title brand affects the number, so we would rather price it correctly up front than adjust when we arrive.
The car is at a body shop or tow yard. Can you collect it there?
Usually yes, and we do it often. You will need to authorise the release with the facility and settle any storage fees they are owed, since those are charged to you rather than to us. Tell us where it is and we will coordinate the pickup with them directly.
Does frame damage kill the value?
It lowers it, but it rarely eliminates it. A frame-damaged car still carries a usable drivetrain, wheels, glass, interior, and undamaged body panels. Structural damage moves the number down; it does not end the conversation.
Should I take the insurance settlement or sell to you?
Compare the two directly: the insurer’s salvage deduction against our cash offer for the same vehicle. Whichever is higher is the better outcome, and we will tell you honestly if theirs wins. We are not interested in talking you into a worse deal.
What if the airbags have deployed?
That is fine and it is extremely common in the cars we buy. Deployed airbags mean the restraint system needs replacing, which is a large part of why insurers total otherwise repairable cars. It is priced in, not a surprise.
